Here's a great concept - a community time bank!
Some folks in our area are starting up a local time bank - the Arroyo Time Bank.

"We are a collective of residents from Pasadena, Northeast Los Angeles, and surrounding neighborhoods who exchange time and skills with one another to transform our community. We invite you to join us as we build relationships through service, share resources with one another, and empower our neighborhoods through our contributions."
The Arroyo Time Bank coordinators will be hosting a potluck and meeting on Sunday, June 28, at 6:00 p.m. at the Casting Pond at the Lower Arroyo Park in Pasadena.
