Recent Progress 3/12/10

The Arroyo Food Co-op’s Founding Team has been busy since the last update blog on 12/16/09. There's lots to tell you all about - more than can fit on one post. Let's start with what's been happening recently...

In January, we formed an interim board of directors. Most of these folks have been instrumental in the progress of the Co-op so far. We thank them for their continued support:
     - Alexandra Ferry (Secretary)
     - Kristin Petherbridge (also Membership Team Leader)
     - Joseph Shuldiner (also Marketing Team Leader)
     - Kelly McCune (also Product Sourcing Team Leader)
     - Susan Carrier (also Party Team Leader)
     - Gloria Putnam (also Education Team Leader)
     - Patrick Reagan (President, Treasurer and also Finance/Admin Team Leader)
The board has met monthly for the past three months with the goal getting the Co-op off the ground and ready for board elections.

We also have Steve Rudicel leading the Brick and Mortar team. Each team is supported by a growing army of volunteers. Everyone is pulling together nicely to bring this Co-op to life.

We tabled and presented at the Arroyo Time Bank's event in January, had two Coffee Shop Hop socials and met with a large group of very interested folks at a house party in South Pasadena. The management of the Pasadena Victory Park farmer's market has kindly allowed us to table there every other week: we had a great response on the first day, have lined up Zoubeida as our tabling coordinator and will be back at it this Saturday.

The future looks busy too! Currently on the schedule: More Coffee Shop Hops, a house party, a presentation at the Neighborhood Church, an Earth Day event with All Saints Church, weekly Office Hours and farmer’s market tabling every other week. Even more events are in the works.

Memberships have been steadily coming in. Currently we’ve got 92 members with 52% of them fully invested. One member-owner has offered a challenge to new members to join - more on this later. We have 404 Facebook fans and 445 registrants on our site.

Things are moving right along!

Watch for our next blog about the upcoming election.
