It seems that most food co-ops these days do not require people to work in order to be a member. Some offer a discount to members that work at least a minimum number of hours. In the other direction there is one new Bay Area co-op, CoG (http://www.thecog.org/index.htm) that requires every household adult to work.
How does everyone feel about this? In our committee discussions so far we've been leaning towards: work not required but the board may allow a plan where members may work for a discount (work and discount amounts not specified in the bylaws but set by the board).
How does this sound?
