We were delighted by the enthusiastic turn-out at this past Wednesday’s social meeting at the Rancho Bar! We enjoyed getting to know more people who are interested in the formation of a cooperative grocery store in the Altadena area. We also appreciated the hospitality at the Rancho!
Though we do not typically set an agenda for the social meetings, our conversations often revolve around plans for the co-op. Last Wednesday was no exception – we summarized a bit of the research that’s been done thus far and mostly we pondered all the great features we’d love to have in our grocery store. Things that came to mind included: freshly prepared foods for take-home, a bistro/café/restaurant, bulk items, and quite simply, a lot of fresh, flavorful, colorful, whole, sustainable and wonderful foods accessible right here in our neighborhood!
The discussion at the social meeting furthers our excitement about the possibility of a cooperative grocery store in this area. To reach our goal, there’s more work to be done! This is where our weekly meetings come into play. Our next working meeting will be this Friday, February 13, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. at the Coffee Gallery on Lake Avenue.
We are in the process of forming committees and could really use your help! Please join us at the Coffee Gallery this Friday if you can give a couple hours or so to help us get some more research and planning accomplished. You can help us get one step closer to our goal of having a cooperative grocery store here in the Altadena area!
Looking forward to seeing you on Friday!
Kristin
p.s. – We have weekly meetings each Friday except the first Friday of the month (which is the week of our monthly social). If you are not able to join us this Friday, no worries – we’ll be meeting again next Friday!
